This is a brand new website that is dedicated to flat track roller derby from 12 different leagues that are in the Michi-chan Sports' DMVDerby District, which includes DC, Maryland, Delaware and certain parts of Virginia.
This site is a localized version of iwantmorederby.com, which is dedicated to roller derby in the state of Arizona.
This site will feature information on upcoming events as well as scores from past events. It is the "go to" place for people in the area to discover the different leagues.
This site is not operated by any of the leagues and therefore it is not an official site for any league. Michi-chan Sports is an independent journalist providing content related to roller derby and some "other sports that need love too". This means we are not just covering derby, but we also have other sports such as cricket in our wheelhouse.
Michi-chan Sports started in 2007 as Michi-chan Roller Sports Productions and was dedicated to covering the leagues in Arizona, especially in the Phoenix area, which is the second birthplace of modern roller derby as there was (and still is) a very high concentration of derby leagues in the area.
Another major part of Michi-chan Roller Sports Productions, now known as Michi-chan Sports is our video coverage. From 2007-2010, MCRSP would travel around the state to record bouts, as well as provide text-based reporting through various websites and on social media channels. In 2026, we are restarting video operations, mainly within the DMVDerby District through what we call "Michi-chan's Derby Love Tour". In 2027, we are also planning at least one Derby Love Tour visit to Arizona in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Michi-chan.
At this time, Michi-chan Sports is trying to build relationships with the various leagues within the DMVDerby District so we can make these visits. We already have one arranged which will be announced very soon.
Our goal here is not to make profits, but it would be nice to be able to cover the travel costs. We do not expect any kind of payment from any league, just the ability for us to come in and be able to showcase your great league and what you all do!
To see what Michi-chan Sports has done in the past, please visit our YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@michichansports) and watch our classic old videos. MCS is releasing new videos every Thursday at 10:30PM EDT throughout 2026 with classic footage from Arizona.
Due to personal commitments, the number of visits we make during 2026 will be very limited, but we are interested in working out a more comprehensive plan for 2027. If you are the PR contact or board representative for a local league, please reach out and let's discuss it.
Our goal is to promote all derby in the region, regardless of gender, gender identity, ruleset and age.
Feel free to contact Michi-chan Sports at staff@michichan.com.
Let's have some fun!
