Starting on April 1, 2026 (and this is no April Fool's), Michi-chan Sports DMV Derby District will expand to include all of the leagues in the state of Virginia including the ones associated with the Virginia Roller Derby Network.
Until now, we only designated three Virginia leagues (NOVA, Ghost Fleet and Dominion) being in the district because those home venues would be approximately a 3-hour or less drive from Salisbury, MD.
However, why should we cut off the state for the Michi's convenience? With that, we are proud to announce the following leagues being added to the Michi-chan DMV Derby District:
- Charlottesville Roller Derby
- Fredericksburg Roller Derby
- River City Roller Derby
- Rocktown Rollers
- Twin Valleys Roller Derby
- Virginia Men's Roller Derby
- Other events planned by Virginia Roller Derby Network
Being in the district means that these leagues will enjoy the third party promotion that Michi-chan has been famous for since 2007 as well as presence in our main score and information site DMVDerby.com and priority placement for live events on Michi-TV, our embedded video portal.
It should be noted that those leagues that are located further away from the Michi may not be able to receive live appearances and on-site video coverage, such as the Derby Love Tour. It will be up to Michi-chan Sports and sponsorships can play a role in more longer distance visits. The Michi-chan Derby Love Tour will be making its first stop since 2009 in Millersville, MD on May 9, 2026 where Patuxent Roller Derby will take on NOVA Roller Derby in an A/B doubleheader and the Benfield Sportscenter.
With this expansion, Michi-chan Sports is also launching the DERBYDATA system on DMVDerby.com. Originally started in 2008 in Arizona, DERBYDATA is a comprehensive database of historical scores for all games either physically played in Arizona or out of state but involving an Arizona team. Likewise for the DMV, the DMV DERBYDATA system will be used to track all bouts/games played in DC, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware or outside of the district but involving a District team. As databases are not built overnight, it may take some time for some more historic data to go into our systems. Of course, we appreciate any information that leagues can provide us on their past events, especially as not all leagues post their results to either a website or social media (though this is something we recommend all leagues to do in order to enhance the fans first experience). For now, as we receive results on events, they will be added to DERBYDATA. DERBYDATA will be a great way to find older scores that were published on the DMVDerby, com page but had aged off.
To access DERBYDATA, visit DMVDerby.com and then click DERBYDATA on the menu. DERBYDATA is compatible with desktop and mobile browsers.
Welcome these Virginia leagues to Michi-chan's DMV Derby Family!
